Kinja'd!!!

A coworker of mine just returned from a trip to northern Japan and brought these back.

They taste....different. Like if you took a regular Kit Kat, removed the chocolate flavor and replaced with something mildly sweet, but with a strong fishy aftertaste.

2/10, would not break you off a piece.

I love these. I’d rate them a 10/10, since I love matcha flavor so much.

What is matcha flavor?

“mat” = powder
“cha” = tea
“matcha” = Japanese Powdered Green Tea

These are actually available year-round at Chinese supermarkets up here. Not exactly cheap though...

There are a bunch of different japanese flavors. The best one is melon.

I don’t like chocolate kitkats, but I could eat the melon ones all day long.

Have had before (from Korean market in Atlanta), endorse generally as a change of pace. They *are* kind of odd, though.

So good. We can get em at our local Uwajimaya.

Also, no fish involved that part is either imagined or your kit kats are way way too old.

I loved the taste, but found the “chocolate” to have a sort of gritty texture.

I’m sure it was just my imagination.

I can get those at the local Korean supermarket in the same aisle as shrimp-flavored chips and Choco Pies. They’re awesome.

Must be the color, green + sweet is definitely weird.

See Toni_Cipriani’s reply. In all honesty, I love anything green tea flavored. Regular green tea, iced green tea, powdered green tea, green tea frappucinos, green tea soymilk, green tea ice cream, green tea Kit Kats...

My brother in law believes matcha has all sorts of health benefits. I think its placebo.

Fun fact: Kit-Kat bars first became popular in Japan because the name “ kit-kat ” sounds like “ kitto katto ” which means “You will surely win!” in Japanese.

It’s that antioxidants thing. Meh, I just like the taste of it, so I don’t really care much.

I really like plain ocha quite a lot. I kinda waffle around with liking or being ambivalent towards matcha.
